Christmas with Bach and the World 2022

Phoenix Choir is bringing a mix of Christmas treats to Blackheath. The Magnificat deserves its popularity, showing J.S. Bach at his most splendid and ornate in half an hour of joyous celebration. The choir is joined by professional soloists and our local Kanimbla string quartet and organs to capture the rich baroque counterpoint. And the trumpet rings out above to add drama to the stately elegance.

The trumpet will also help with the descant in some of the traditional carols, including some for the audience to sing along. Musical director, Amy Moore, has gathered a selection of carols from around the world so there will also be a few surprises to contrast with the heart-warmingly familiar.

Phoenix Choir will perform the Bach Magnificat and carols from around the world at 3pm on Saturday 10 December in the Phillips Hall, Gardiner Crescent, Blackheath. Tickets are $40 (concession $35) from

When: Sunday 10 December, 2022 at 3:00pm.
Where: Blackheath Community Centre 41 Garniner Cresent, 2785 (map).
Tickets: Purchase tickets here or at the door.
