RIDE THE OPEN PADDOCK, BUSHLAND & MOUNTAINSIDE TRAILS OF THE KANIMBLA VALLEY

We ride in the Centennial Glen area of Kanimbla Valley. Fantastic views of Blue Mountains escarpments. Ride open paddock, bushland and mountainside horse trails. We have very quiet horses and friendly guides you will have a great ride. Our riding groups are small, better to enjoy the peace a quiet of the beautiful valley.

First time riders, your safety is our main concern, and experienced riders are also catered for. You will get the chance to have a trot or canter if the guide thinks it safe to do so. All our rides are guided by experienced and friendly guides.

All of our staff have Working with Children checks. For your safety, all our senior guides are accredited by Horse Safety Australia. Our stables and site have accreditation with Horse Safety Australia. We are a 20-minute drive from Blackheath.

Gracie Bullyproof Lawson ju-jitsu school holidays program for kids

Gracie Bullyproof is a confidence and character development program for children (ages 5-12). This program is broken up into three groups based on age and skill level (Little Champs, Jr. Grapplers and Black Belt Club) and no experience is necessary to get started.

Your child will learn verbal assertiveness skills as well as non-violent self-defense techniques to stay safe if physically assaulted. We don’t teach the children how to punch or kick instead, we use leverage-based control holds to neutralize threats without violence. Mountains Youth Services Team (MYST), with the support of the NSW Government, is hosting a free skateboarding workshop and competition for youth aged 12-24 years.

For those interested in Art, there is a free Mini grip tape art workshop too. There will be free learn to skate sessions held by Concrete Skate Supply as well as a Skate Jam Competition.

There will be lots of great giveaways and prizes to be won.

Leura Village Fair

CHERRY BLOSSOMS, STALLS, PERFORMANCES & FAMILY FUN IN THE HEART OF LEURA

Save the date for the ultimate celebration of spring in lovely Leura. Cherry Blossom season will be in full swing as the Leura Village Fair celebrates its 40th year.

There’ll be old faces and new with over a hundred stall holders offering a treasure trove of art, handicrafts, fair trade goods, vintage wares, herbal health and beauty, fashion, jewellery, gadgets and gizmos, toys, dog couture, cool-climate plants, preserves and fresh produce.

This year the family fun for kids, parents and grandparents is being stepped up with face-painting, cupcake bake-off, and petunia plant-out.

There’ll be prizes for the finest spring finery so come along decked in flowers or dressed up as your Favourite Spring Thing with the grans parading their cutest and quirkiest hats.

Local choirs, musicians and street performers will add to the festivities and invite a sing-along on Sunday at 11 AM.

Pick Your Own Sunflowers In Kurmond

Glenbernie Family Farms is a family friendly flower farm where you can visit and pick sunflowers as well as taking countless photo opportunities at the highly ‘Instagrammable’ destination.

SUITED FOR: Everyone (if you have an allergy to bee stings you might want to avoid this activity as there are plenty of bees at the sunflower farm).

Children 3 years & under are free.
 The cost is $4 for each flower stem or sunflower stem you pick.
Pay for your sunflowers on the way out.

Visit A Blue Mountains Spring Garden

DISCOVER THE BEAUTY OF MOUNT WILSON & MOUNT TOMAH IN SPRING

Gorgeous daffodils at the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden (Mount Tomah)

Mount Wilson comes to life in Spring with a huge burst of colour. In late Winter / early Spring daffodils are blooming. In September and October you’ll find Weeping Cherries, Rhododendrons, Camellias, Azaleas and a variety of other beautiful flowers and plants.

Visitors are attracted to Mount Wilson’s small town charm and enjoy the walks and picnic spots here. The Cathedral of Ferns (view map) is a short but interesting walk. You might enjoy a picnic lunch at one fo the gardens or lunch at Bowen’s Creek Picnic Ground.

Gardens in Mount Wilson region that you may like to visit include The Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah (especially beautiful for its daffodil display end of Winter/beginning of Spring), Breenhold Garden (View map). There are many beautiful spots to see at Breenhold Garden, including Laburnun Steps, Pine Tree Avenue & Compass Garden; Bebeah Garden (home of the little red gate); Yengo Sculpture GardensNooroo Garden (which features a world famous wisteria collection), Sefton Cottage; and Windyridge Garden.

More gardens can be found here. While you are in Mount Wilson you may also be interested in visiting Wynne’s Rock LookoutPheasant’s Cave and Du Faurs Rock.

Please keep in mind though that mobile phone reception is patchy or non existent and that there are no shops, petrol stations or medical services in Mount Wilson (the closest are in Mount Victoria and Lithgow). You will also need to take all rubbish with you as the local bins cannot cope with too much rubbish.

Nooroo’s Opening Hours for Spring 2022: To celebrate the daffodils, Nooroo will be open early on Saturday 3 September and Sunday 4 September 2022. After that, they will be open every day from Saturday, 10 September 2022 to Sunday, 6 November 2022 from 10 am to 4.30 pm
Windyridge Garden is open everyday from 8am to 4:30pm.
It is best to check the relevant website and Facebook Page before your visit to ensure gardens are open (as they may close in the case of inclement weather).

Most of the gardens have entry fees. Breenhold Garden (in Autumn 2022), for example charged $15 per adult, and $5 for children over 5 years old. The family rate for 2 adults and 3 or more children is $40.00. Please check each Garden’s website for up to date entry fees.

Wascoe Siding Miniature Railway, Blaxland, is a Blue Mountains school holiday classic. Riding the miniature trains at Wascoe Siding is a fun and unique family activity in the lower Blue Mountains, suitable for all ages. Learn about steam engines from local miniature railway experts and create wonderful memories at the historic Wascoe Siding Minature Railway.
