With a brand new, well-designed playground for young children, as well as play equipment suitable for older children, Glenbrook Park in the lower Blue Mountains offers a great morning out for the family.

Features of Glenbrook Park

In the new playground, there is a small bike/scooter path, a horse sculpture called ‘Henrietta’, a water tank climbing apparatus, a sensory trail and a water pump (recently turned off due to water restrictions). The local men’s shed hand made the clatter bridge.

There are also locomotive themed elements in the park such as railway tracks that are used as balance beams, a set of railway luggage scales used as a small stage, railway sleepers and fettler’s cartwheels. It is fully fenced with gates.

We especially love the patch of grass within the gates near the playground for mother’s groups to meet or friends to meet for a picnic or coffee.

Overall, this is a lovely little park, most suitable for children up until about four or five years.

Play equipment for older kids at Glenbrook Park

Outside the fenced-off playground is some climbing equipment for older children. Currently, this equipment is a little outdated but the Blue Mountains City Council are planning to replace this equipment.

There are picnic benches, accessible public toilets, BBQs and shelter. It is also a great space to kick a ball around at the oval.

The upgrade is starting on Monday, 9 November.

When you are next in Glenbrook Village, you may see the construction fencing up near the junior play space. The junior play space will remain open with temporary gates and two entry points, during the works.

You can also still walk from the village centre through to the public toilets and Glenbrook Cinema during the upgrade. The toilets will remain available to use and the public parking is unaffected.

Medium to heavy rigid vehicles will move along Ross St and Park St to the construction zone and there will be traffic control for those vehicles when they exit the worksite. The Project Team apologises for any inconvenience.

The upgrade is expected to be completed by the end of January 2021, weather permitting.
