What To Expect On The Sir Henry Parkes Victory Track

The Sir Henry Parkes Victory Track Faulconbridge is up there with one of our family’s favourite bushwalks in the lower Blue Mountains. There a bit of everything on the Victory Track as you head to Clarinda Falls. It really feels like you have entered a parallel universe as you subside down the track and uncover all it has to offer.

From caves, waterholes, fern forests, rock scrambling, tree root swings, fallen trees to clamber across and the astounding diversity of the natural environment, you will be in awe at the beauty that surrounds you.

How Long Does It Take To Get To Clarinda Falls?

victory track faulconbridge map

It is estimated to take around 45 minutes one way to reach Clarinda Falls or one and a half hours return. The Victory Track continues towards Springwood, but if you are after a pleasant and doable family walk, then reaching the lovely Clarinda Falls is rewarding and achieveable when walking with children.

The Descent

From the start of the Victory Track to Clarinda Falls is about a 200m descent, so expect plenty of stairs going down and, of course, stairs heading back up on your return journey.

The Track

Victory Track is fairly clear and easy to follow. It is a good idea to use an app, such as All Trails, for directions when bushwalking though, in case you lose your way.

Are Dogs Allowed On the Victory Track?

Please be aware that the tracks around here cross both national park and council reserve areas. Dogs are not allowed in national park areas. From the map at the beginning of the track, it seems that dogs are allowed along the track to Clarinda Falls. However, it is best to check the signage along the track as you walk, as regulations relating to the use of these places vary.

Challenges And Suitability

Victory Track is not suitable for prams, wheelchairs or for anyone who may find stair climbing difficult. The bushwalk is a little too challenging for toddlers, unless they are in a suitable hiking carrier. Some rock scrambling is essential as you approach Clarinda Falls. It is not overly difficult but young children may need assistance.

You may also find the added adventure of falls trees across the track to journey across.

Sensory Experiences

The beautiful Victory Track is full of sensory stimulation, from the smells of the rainforest, to the touch of soft moss, to the amazing sights to behold. This track has the potential to leave you feeling mindful, invigorated and refreshed.

Your children will be immersed in the most amazing natural Blue Mountains environment that you may wonder why you don’t go bushwalking more often!

If you are lucky enough, you may even find a Kindness Rock (or two!) on your travels!

How To Find the Victory Track, Faulconbridge

The Victory Track Faulconbridge is about a 5 minute, 400m walk from Faulconbridge Station.

It is located near number 10 Sir Henrys Parade, Faulconbridge. There are a few street parking spaces nearby. The start of the walk is signposted.

Clarinda Falls

Clarinda Falls was named after Sir Henry Parkes’ wife, Clarinda, and Faulconbridge was actually named after his mother’s maiden name.

As you approach Clarinda Falls, you will clearly hear the sound of the waterfall. It is a stunning waterfall tucked away in the depths of this walk. You might decide to start your return journey here, or continue walking the track.

Please read our safety tips around water here.

Sir Henry Parkes Monument

Near the start of the Victory Track is Sir Henry Parkes’ monument and grave. It is a 550m walk 8 minute walk or one minute drive from the start of the Victory Track in Faulconbridge. While you are in the area, learn about Parkes’ life in the Blue Mountains.

Parkes was a businessman and politician who enjoyed the peace and beauty of life in the Blue Mountains. He bought a large amount of land in the mountains and Faulconbridge was the Parkes family’s first real home.

Sir Henry Parkes was five times Premier of NSW and founder of free public education. Combine your bushwalk with a little Australian History about the ‘Father of Federation’, Sir Henry Parkes (1815 – 1896).

Sir Henry Parkes’ wife, Clarinda, is buried here.

Great snapshot of the Victory Track. I grew up near the Corridor of Oaks, Faulconbridge during he early 1960s and spent many hours exploring the valleys. Clarinda Falls I have been informed is now silted up, when I last visited it was a delight to have a paddle.!!!! I clearly remember the huge Turpentine tree you have included which as a small boy was indeed rather large………..good to see it still standing sentinel.
