Marge’s Lookout

Marge’s Lookout and Elizabeth Lookout in Glenbrook are highly recommended if you are new to bushwalking in the Blue Mountains or if you are after a fairly flat, easy, and scenic bushwalk.

Marge’s and Elizabeth Lookouts are a wonderful way for beginner bushwalkers to explore the Blue Mountains for the first time and get a taste for the beauty of the bush, without needing too much endurance.

From Burnett Street, Glenbrook, it is a relatively flat fire trail that takes you to these two lovely lookouts, looking out over Penrith Valley and Sydney.

What To Expect At Marge’s And Elizabeth Lookouts Glenbrook

Marges Lookout is about 1.3km from the Knapsack Reserve car park and Elizabeth Lookout is 1.1km. This trail is easy enough to complete with children of all ages.

There are some rocky parts as you get closer to the lookouts, so if you are taking a pram, ensure it is one designed to handle rocks and divots in the ground. Young children on bikes without gears and suspension may find some parts of the ride too bumpy and difficult to ride and may need to push the bike through those parts.

You may like to pack a picnic to enjoy as you get to the halfway point of your walk and overlook the views. Ensure your children don’t climb the fences – always keep them close to you and do not allow them to run ahead of you.

This Knapsack Reserve area is also used by mountain bike riders because there are plenty of tracks (including a black diamond trail) that come off the main fire trail. However, if you stick to the main fire trail you’ll come to a fork that will take you left to Marges Lookout or right to Elizabeth Lookout.

Finding the track

Start your walk from Knapsack Reserve on Burnett Street, Glenbrook – the carpark is past the Knapsack Park soccer fields on the right. Drive slowly as there are usually children around.
