Your kids will love Horseshoe Falls Hazelbrook! It is a picturesque easy to medium grade 2km return walk that presents you and your family with gorgeous waterfalls amidst a Blue Mountains wonderland. There are five waterfalls to explore along this track but you can choose to turn around after any of them, depending on the age and stamina of your children.

What To Expect At Horseshoe Falls

This Walk Can Be Very Muddy

This mid-mountains medium grade Blue Mountains bushwalk is best after rainfall, but extra adventurous with the mud along the track! Hiking or good walking shoes are a must – be careful walking on mud and hold your little one’s hand, it can get quite slippery.

The Path

The path can be a little confusing at times, knowing which path to follow, but this is a fairly popular track so simply follow the path down towards the waterfalls. You may like to download the All Trails App (Google Play or Apple) to help you find your way.

Is The Track Dog Friendly?

Yes, dogs on a leash are welcome to enjoy this track. It is nice and cool in Summer for dogs to splash around. PLEASE take everything with you. That means rubbish and cleaning up after your dog. Let’s continue to keep our Blue Mountains tracks beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

Glowworms

Thousands of glowworms live around Horseshoe Falls and give a most magical atmosphere to this Blue Mountains bushwalk. To get the full experience you would need to visit at night and turn off all of your lights. Please respect the glowworms by not shining lights directly at them.

Fairy Falls

The first waterfall you will reach – after about 15 minutes – is often referred to as Fairy Falls. It is a gorgeous little waterfall with a cave overhang.

Horseshoe Falls

If you continue walking, you will arrive at Horseshoe Falls – much more amazing and breathtaking than Fairy Falls! Horseshoe Falls is superb after rainfall and is a natural playground for children, as they enjoy exploring behind the waterfall looking for glowworms, clambering over rocks and splashing with sticks in the water. It is really beautiful!

What makes this waterfall so special is that you can walk behind it, which makes for some great photo opportunities.

How Long Does It Take To Get To Horseshoe Falls?

Signage recommends that Horseshoe Falls takes an hour return to complete. The walk to both Horseshoe Falls with young children, was more around half an hour return. Of course, it all depends on how long you stay to enjoy the falls.

Finding The Track

Horseshoe Falls track begins on Oaklands Road in Hazelbrook. There is not a dedicated carpark for this bushwalk but you may park along the road. Look for the sign below on Oaklands Road, Hazelbrook, for the start of the track.
