Fairfield Adventure Playground Is Worth A Trip From The Blue Mountains

arriving at Fairfield Adventure Park

If you are up for an adventure out of the Blue Mountains, Fairfield Adventure Park and Playground is worth the trip. You will find something for young children and teenagers alike at Fairfield Adventure Park – it really is an amazing space for all ages to enjoy.

The whole precinct around the playground is set up for families, with the Fairfield Leisure Centre across the road (including Aquatopia Water Park) and Fairfield Youth & Community Centre next door. It is a busy community hub, and we can see why!

Fairfield Adventure Park and Playground’s Best Features

Fairfield Adventure Playground was created in 2015 with tweens and teens in mind. It is rare to find a play space with equipment specially designed to challenge older children. When regular playgrounds do not suit them anymore, this playground will motivate tweens and teens to stay active.

Even though Fairfield Adventure Playground obviously caters for older children, kids of all ages have plenty to enjoy here, with a lot to look forward to as they grow older.

Enormous Climbing Frame and Slides

As you arrive at Fairfield Adventure Playground you can’t miss the 11 metre climbing frame with its three epic slides attached. The structure is the central feature of the park.

Three tubular slides (one is mostly straight and two are more winding) are connected by a sturdy central bridge, with all slides landing on a soft sandy base.

We recommend that you supervise your younger children in the towers, if possible. Older kids like to congregate up there at times and it is important that you keep a close eye on younger children to keep them safe. It is even better if you can climb up with them.

The slides are metal and could get quite hot in the warmer months. Visiting from Autumn to Spring is ideal as shade structures are minimal at the park. Even though there are plenty of established trees for shade, much of the playground is in the sun during the day.

The Obstacle Course

The ninja warrior style obstacle course at Fairfield Adventure Park is wonderful. Even though the sign suggests that the course is suitable for 15 years and older, younger children are still able to attempt the course, at their parents’ and carer’s own discretion.

The obstacle course consists of a fun treetop walk, flying fox, tyre climbing structure, balance beam station and more. It is great fun and fantastic physical exercise.

A rope grasp tug-o-war activity station is situated adjacent to the obstacle course and is best done with a few other children (or a couple of strong teenagers), as the rope is quite heavy for just two children.

Toilets are nearby the obstacle course too.

The Younger Children’s Play Space

It is not just the big kids that get to enjoy this incredible playground! A smaller red climbing structure is a fun addition for younger kids at Fairfield Adventure Playground. It is very popular and much safer for the little ones than the gigantic structure nearby!

Also in this area, there are a couple of regular swings for littlies and two accessible swings – including an expression seat swing (where a younger child may be face to face with an adult or older child).

Younger children will also enjoy the large face to face bouncer and cone shaped climbing carousel.

Other Great Features

At Fairfield Adventure Playground there is a smorgasbord of equipment and family friendly features to use and enjoy, including:

  • Seating located throughout the park,
  • Barbecues and shaded picnic tables (great for birthday parties – you can book them),
  • Sand play (you may like to bring a few trucks, toys and shovels for little ones to play with),
  • Sheltered rotunda,
  • Mini 6×6 climbing frame for small children,
  • Winding scooter and bike paths around and through the playground,
  • Double flying fox,
  • Smaller exercise playground,
  • More swings!
  • Nest swing,
  • Plenty of parking close by,
  • An icecream van that comes to visit (cash only),
  • Bike racks,
  • Mini Trampoline (broken when we visited in April 2022),
  • Merry-go-round (difficult to push, possibly due to sand, when we visited in April 2022),
  • Large foosball tables,
  • Smaller pieces of equipment are scattered around the playground,
  • Tyre swing.fairfield adventure playground tyre swing

Tips For Your Visit To Fairfield Adventure Playground

  • This park is huge! If you are visiting with a few children, it can be tricky keeping an eye on them at all times. It might be easier to visit during off peak times.
  • Weekends and school holidays are very busy times at Fairfield Adventure Park and Playground. If you have children under five years, you are best to visit during school hours to avoid the bigger kids and teenagers. In saying that, there is a lot of space so the playground does not feel too crowded even during its busiest times.
  • Fairfield Adventure Park is unfenced and next to the carpark and road (there is a reasonable space between the playground and carpark).
Always keep an eye on your kids as they frantically run around enjoying this fantastic park.
  • Overall, the park is a safe and friendly space to visit. However, it is always best to be vigilant about where your children are to ensure everyone has a good time. Young children share the playground with teenagers.
  • 8 years + is recommended for the large frame as the final climb into the tower is quite difficult and kids need long and strong arms and legs to climb in. Be prepared to potentially climb up the large frame if you need to help your child.
  • There did not seem to be any cafe or food options close by so bring your own food and drinks to last a few hours – your children will not want to leave this awesome playground!
  • Bring sun protection for yourself and your family, as much of the park is in the sun.
  • Ice cream and coffee vans visit this park frequently. It is currently cash only for the ice cream. The average cost is $5 each (current information as of April 2022).We would like to hear about your experience at Fairfield Adventure Park and Playground in the comments below. We hope that our guide has helped you to prepare for and enjoy one of the best playgrounds in Sydney!
