What We Love About Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs

This Beautiful Playground Within Penrith City Council Is Fenced!

livvi's place jordan springs garden

Around the large perimeter of Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs, you will have the peace of mind that a fenced playground brings. It is not a high fence but it is enough of a boundary to deter wandering toddlers from exploring further afield without you!

This Playground Is Inclusive!

Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs is designed to allow ALL children, including anyone with a disability, to enjoy playing and socialising at the park. Play is so essential to a child’s development that inclusive playgrounds should be the norm, but currently, they are the exception.

Hopefully, this is bound to change. Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs was created by a wonderful and innovative Australian charity, Touched By Olivia.

Touched By Olivia’s central mandates are to:

  • Give every Australian the right to play, side by side, without discrimination or prejudice; and
  • Facilitate social and community inclusion for people with disability as well as their families and carers.

Touched By Olivia is the beautiful legacy of a precious little girl named Olivia. Olivia Perkins passed away unexpectantly in November 2006 by a rare lymphatic disease at just 8 months old. Her grieving parents channelled their love and their grief to create a legacy for Olivia that changes the lives of so many Australian families, by creating Touched By Olivia.

Their vision is that EVERYONE can play at Livvi’s Place and that everyone knows that they belong and are valued. Read more about Livvi’s Place here.

There is Water Play!

livvi's place jordan springs water play

Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs boasts a large water play area with six water jets! Now, do not arrive for water play and expect to press a button to instantaneously activate the jets. Children are expected to WORK together to activate the water on three pieces of equipment, including a see-saw.

In fact, it often ends up being parents who get a workout on the equipment by helping the kids out! When these three pieces of equipment are being used, the water sprays, and it’s delightful! When they are not being used, there is no water. This is a slight problem if you are the only ones in the park – not much water for you!

The ideal of teamwork involved in this method is great – there is thought behind the concept. However, it is slightly frustrating for children when people on the equipment stop playing, because then the water stops.

livvi's place jordan springs water play

This is particularly frustrating for younger children because the equipment requires quite a bit of effort to use it, so it is older children and adults who get the best results from the water jets!

There are six water jets. The lower ones allow children to get the wettest (so be sure to bring a change of clothes when you visit this playground). The other jets spray a minimal amount of water, so you get slightly wet but not drenched.

Was this water play space worth the expensive investment? Considering how hot Western Sydney gets during Summer a bucket that drops water and some water jets on the ground would have added a lot more water fun to this water play space, just like at Livvi’s Place Kellyville (now that’s where you go if you want to get drenched!).

In any case, this water play space is still a great place to cool off on a warm day. You can also go home with fairly dry children if you did not intend for them to get wet at the park.

Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs is shaded!

livvi's place jordan springs swings

Many parts of the playground are shaded. The three swings were covered by lovely purple shade cloths in July 2019, which is a welcome relief from the Summer sun. Tall metal towering shades attempt to shade other sections of the park but they actually do not provide very much shade, especially over the metal slide on a hot afternoon! Best not to attempt the metal slide on a hot day, unless you like to live life on the edge! Ouch!

Join Storytime at Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs!

livvi's place jordan springs storytime

Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs hosts a lovely inclusive Storytime for local families. They aim for the community to meet and be together, regardless of differences.

Storytime is free for all children at Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs on Fridays (during school terms) at 10am (this may have been affected by COVID-19 restrictions so please check their Facebook Page for updates).

Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs is a Sensory Oasis!

This wonderful playground has been designed to captivate the senses. On a Spring afternoon, you can easily smell the variety of flowers and plants in the gorgeous gardens at Livvi’s Place.

Leaves are so soft, lavender wafts through the air and flowers create a natural aroma at Livvi’s place that creates a sense of being in a botanical garden.

If your child loves to explore through the sense of touch, then they will likely enjoy this playground. The sand is soft and clean, the flowers and plants are lovely to touch gently and explore and the artistic tiles provide another element to engage the sense of touch.

There Are Excellent Amenities In And Around Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs

Gather family and friends for a picnic, barbecue, birthday party or a spontaneous afternoon at the park! There is plenty of luscious grass to spread out a picnic blanket and enjoy time together within this lovely space in one of Sydney’s newest estates near Penrith, Jordan Springs.

There are a couple of stainless steel barbecues within the fenced playground and a couple outside too. You will find picnic tables available (some shaded, others not) and plenty of large bins around. The playground is kept very clean and tidy.

Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs Invites Children To Play Imaginatively

As first glance, children may look around this playground and think that there is not a lot to do. The equipment is spaced out and it is not an ‘adventure playground’ with daring, fast equipment, like flying foxes.

However, after a while, the creative side to kids’ brains kicks in and they will not want to leave. The climbing rope tower becomes a castle. The ball-shaped seat becomes the moon and the rock climbing wall is a tall mountain to conquer.

livvi's place jordan springs merry go round

Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs ignites the imagination and that is the beauty of this space. Children feel relaxed and happy at this playground as they meet new friends, play together and solve problems as a team. This kind of authentic, imaginative play is what children of today need more of, in the fast-paced digital age that they are growing up in.

Other Great Features of Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs That Your Kids Will Love

■ Livvi’s Place Jordan Springs was developed in partnership with Touched by Olivia Foundation, Penrith Council and Lendlease over five years.

■ It is the first inclusive play space to be built by Lendlease, and the 20th Livvi’s Place to be opened nationally.

Nice park but change the water system to a timer … stupid to have little children and one adult you can’t work the water … and I don’t feel like working hard in 40 degree heat !!!
