skateparks in the Blue Mountains, Glenbrook Skatepark

Glenbrook Skatepark is a large skatepark in the lower Blue Mountains, and one of the most popular for families. It can seem a little daunting to take young children to a skate park, as it is a popular hangout for teenagers.

However, Glenbrook skatepark is a perfect example of how children and youth can use the space so beautifully together. There are two-year-olds sharing the skatepark with skateboarders and BMX’ers in high school, and older! It is impressive how respectful the older guys and girls are towards the younger children.

Features of Glenbrook Skatepark

Glenbrook Skatepark in the Blue Mountains is well designed and provides opportunities for beginners and advanced riders to do challenging tricks. The bowl has a good flow to it and there is plenty of space for everyone. The funbox in the middle is the centrepiece of the skate bowl and has a one foot off the ground cylindrical metal pole used for slides and grinds.

Safety at Skateparks in the Blue Mountains

Glenbrook Skatepark is a fun and popular skatepark in the Blue Mountains. However, when using Glenbrook Skatepark, we recommend that you encourage your children to wear all of the appropriate safety gear, including a good quality and well-fitted helmet (ensuring that it covers your child’s forehead), knee pads, elbow pads and closed in shoes. This is particularly essential if your children are young and new to riding scooters, bikes and skateboards.

If learning how to ride a skateboard, regardless of age, we highly recommend your child wears wrist guards as it is likely that he or she will put hands down first on a fall.

In addition to this safety gear, it is always a good idea to be prepared with a small first aid kit for scrapes on the knee or other injuries. Your kits should include an instant icepack, bandaids, clean disposable gloves, saline solution, sterile gauzes and a variety of sizes of bandages.

Skateparks are also very slippery and dangerous when it’s wet, so please avoid using the skatepark when it is wet.

Glenbrook Skatepark Insider Tips

The toilet blocks are only open when organised sports teams are training or using the oval. There is a service station across the road and Glenbrook cafes and shops are only a short walk away.

Ensure that your children ‘check for traffic’ before entering the skate bowl, as it can get busy and people are entering from all different directions due to its round shape.

Here is a beginner’s guide to scooter tricks!

I love this skate park. It’s so fun and has big 6 foot drop ins, so sketchy it’s awesome!
